Write for us

Modern County Journal welcomes considered pitches about county boundaries, landscapes, place names, built heritage and the connections between places. Proposals should give readers a lasting way to understand or notice a subject.

What we welcome

We are interested in clear explanations, grounded comparisons and fresh ways to read a map, name, landscape, route or building. A strong contribution has a defined subject and shows why it matters to readers beyond one narrow curiosity.

What to include in a pitch

Tell us the proposed angle, the main point you would make, why it suits Modern County Journal and what information or material would support it. Flag uncertainty and explain any limits to the account. A pitch is enough to start; please do not send a complete article unless requested.

How to send a proposal

Send pitches through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include your name and a way to reply in the form. A submission is not a promise of publication, and we may ask for clarification before considering a proposal.
